We approached the Highway Rent a Car project with a clear vision: to transform a traditional rental service into a modern digital experience. The website acts as a 24/7 digital showroom, allowing international travelers and locals to browse the vehicle fleet with the same ease as walking into a physical office. We prioritized a clean, clutter-free layout that highlights the most important details – vehicle condition, passenger capacity, and pricing-ensuring that users can make informed decisions in seconds.

Beyond just aesthetics, the core of our design strategy was “Mobile-First Usability.” Knowing that over 70% of travelers book rides via their smartphones, we crafted an interface with thumb-friendly navigation and fast-loading visual elements. The color palette and typography were chosen to build immediate trust, creating a seamless bridge between a visitor landing on the site and making that crucial phone call to book their ride.

Project Analysis

The rent a car market in Colombo is extremely competitive. The client faced a common problem: customers were constantly asking for photos, rates, and vehicle conditions via WhatsApp, which was time-consuming. They needed a central platform to showcase their fleet – from budget Suzuki Wagon Rs to luxury Montero Sports.

Our analysis showed that over 70% of their potential customers (especially tourists) would be browsing on mobile phones while traveling. Therefore, the site couldn’t just “look good” on a laptop; it had to work flawlessly on a smartphone. We also identified that the site needed a solid technical foundation to eventually rank on Google, as they were starting from scratch.

Objectives

  • Digital Showroom: Move the manual “send photos” process to a professional online inventory where users can filter vehicles by budget or type.

  • Mobile-First Approach: Ensure the booking experience is smooth for users with smaller screens and unstable data connections.

  • Drive Inquiries: Design the layout to encourage direct phone calls and WhatsApp messages.

  • SEO Foundation: Set up the technical architecture so the site is ready to rank for keywords like “Rent a car Colombo” (currently in the initial indexing phase).
